EMER DECLARED -- GND FIRE -- ACR HAS A FIRE INDICATION ON THE #2 ENG.

Narrative

OUR FLT FROM CID-ORD PUSHED FROM THE GATE AT XA25 LCL. ATC THEN NOTIFIED US OF A WHEELS UP TIME OF XA45. WE STARTED ENGS AT XA38 AND TAXIED TO RWY 27. WHILE PARKED IN HOLDING PAD FOR RWY 27; WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 27. SECONDS AFTER THE CAPT ADVANCED THROTTLES; THE #2 ENG FIRE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN AND THE FIRST EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE WAS DISCHARGED. TWR WAS NOTIFIED TO SEND FIRE TRUCKS. TWR SAID NO SMOKE OR FIRE WAS OBSERVED. AFTER 30 SECONDS; THE FIRE HANDLE WAS STILL ILLUMINATED; SO THE SECOND FIRE BOTTLE WAS DISCHARGED. CAPT ASKED FLT ATTENDANT IF SHE COULD SEE FIRE OR SMOKE FROM #2 ENG AND SHE SAID NO. #2 FIRE HANDLE REMAINED ILLUMINATED; AND A CABIN EVAC WAS ORDERED. EVAC WAS ORDERLY AND WITHOUT INJURY. FIREMAN TOLD US THEY COULD SEE NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE #2 ENG. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 314477: THE FO AND MYSELF SECURED THE ACFT; AFTER A QUICK RUN THROUGH THE CABIN TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WAS OUT I WAS THE LAST PERSON TO EXIT THE ACFT. DOORS 1L AND 2L WERE USED. DOOR 1L OPERATED PROPERLY. DOOR 2L SLIDE HAD TO BE MANUALLY INFLATED. THERE WERE NO MAJOR INJURIES. A FEW PEOPLE HAD MINOR SLIDE BURNS. AT THIS TIME VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE ENG COWLING AREA BY THE FIRE CREW; WAS NOT CLR IF WE ACTUALLY HAD A FIRE OR NOT.
