FLC DIVERTED FOR ILL PAX AND MADE AN OVERWT LNDG AND THEN TOOK OFF WITHOUT PRESCRIBED OVERWT LNDG INSPECTION.

Narrative

ENRTE FROM PITTSBURG TO PORTLAND; I DIVERTED TO SIOUX FALLS DUE TO A MEDICAL EMER; INVOLVING ONE OF OUR PAX. ON DSCNT INTO FSD; FO ADVISED ME THAT WE WOULD BE MAKING AN OVERWT LNDG (118600-114000 MAX LNDG WT). I BRIEFED AND FLEW THE APCH AND LNDG ACCORDING TO COMPANY POLICY. THE TOUCHDOWN WAS VERY SMOOTH AND I USED ALL OF RWY (9000 FT) ON ROLLOUT TO MINIMIZE HEAT AND WEAR ON BRAKES. WE INQUIRED AS TO MAINT AVAILABLE; FOR INSPECTION OF ACFT AFTER OVERWT LNDG. WE WERE INFORMED IT WAS CONTRACT MAINT; NO PART 121 MAINT AVAILABLE. I DECIDED NOT TO CALL MAINT; UNTIL I TALKED TO OUR COMPANY. AFTER TALKING TO OUR COMPANY DISPATCHER; ABOUT THE SIT; IT WAS SUGGESTED I WRITE-UP THE OVERWT LNDG -- ENRTE FROM FSD TO PDX. I UNWISELY FOLLOWED HIS SUGGESTION AND WROTE UP THE LNDG ENRTE TO PORTLAND. SEVERAL THINGS PROBABLY INFLUENCED MY DECISION: CREDIBILITY OF MAINT AVAILABLE. STRESS. DECISION TO DIVERT TO OFF LINE ARPT. GETTING ACFT ON THE GND QUICKLY -- BUT HAVING TO GET CABIN ALT DOWN AT A COMFORTABLE RATE. CONDITION OF AILING PAX. GETTING RELEASED TO PDX AND GETTING REFUELED PROPERLY. WELFARE OF OTHER PAX AND CREW. IN RETROSPECT; I SHOULD HAVE INSISTED THAT THE ACFT BE INSPECTED AND SIGNED OFF; BEFORE CONTINUING OUR FLT TO PORTLAND.
