REGIONAL CARRIER HAS #1 ENG FIRE ON CLBOUT.

Narrative

FLT DEPARTED ORD ENRTE TO LAN. A NORMAL FLAPS 15 DEGS TKOF WAS EXECUTED OFF OF RWY 22L AT ORD; AND GIVEN A 090 DEG HDG AND CLB TO 5000 FT. THE CLBOUT WAS NORMAL AND THE FLT WAS CLRED TO CLB TO 9000 FT. WHILE PASSING 7700 FT AND 45 MI NE OF ORD THE ENG FIRE WARNING SOUNDED WITH THE APPROPRIATE INDICATIONS ON CCAS; FIRE HANDLE; AND CONDITION LEVER BEING DISPLAYED FOR THE #1 ENG. CREW COMPLETED ALL MEMORY ITEM CHKLISTS ALONG WITH SINGLE ENG OPERATING PROCS CHKLIST. THE ENG FIRE REQUIRED 1 FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE TO BE DISCHARGED TO BE DOUSED. FLT LEVELED AT 8000 FT AND NOTIFIED ATC OF THE SIT AND DECLARED AN EMER. FLT WAS CLRED DIRECT TO ORD AT 8000 FT AND REQUESTED CFR CREW TO BE STANDING BY. ATC WAS INFORMED AS TO THE NUMBER OF SOULS ON BOARD (18) AND FUEL REMAINING. THE CABIN CREW WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SIT AND ASKED TO INSPECT THE ENG FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE CABIN AND RPTED 'NOTHING.' THE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED THE FLT WOULD BE RETURNING TO ORD. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. ACFT WAS LANDED ON RWY 27L AT ORD AND CLRED ON THE 'MIKE' TXWY AND STOPPED. CFR INSPECTED THE #1 ENG AREA AND RPTED THE FIRE OUT AND SECURED. A POST FLT OF THE #1 ENG AREA WAS PERFORMED BY THE COCKPIT CREW AND A NON-REVENUE MAINT SUPVR. THE PAX WERE DEPLANED THROUGH THE MAIN CABIN DOOR USING NORMAL PROCS. THE COCKPIT CREW COMPLETED ALL NECESSARY POST FLT PAPERWORK AND TURNED THE ACFT OVER TO MAINT. THE COCKPIT CREW WAS THEN ESCORTED TO THE CHIEF PLT'S OFFICE FOR DEBRIEFING.
