NMAC BTWN 2 SMA'S AT NON TWR ARPT.
Narrative
I WAS ON AN IFR FLT PLAN ENRTE FROM MTW TO 3BB. THIS IS A SMALL ARPT IN THE SUBURBS OF DETROIT; MI. WHEN I ARRIVED IN THE PATTERN AT 3BB THERE WERE 2 OTHER ACFT (SINGLE ENG CESSNAS) IN THE PATTERN DOING TKOFS AND LNDGS. I ENTERED THE DOWNWIND LEG AND RADIOED MY ENTRY. I THEN CALLED MY BASE LEG OVER THE RADIO AND HEARD ONE OF THE OTHER ACFT CALL DOWNWIND. THEN THE SECOND PLANE CALLED ITS DOWNWIND LEG. I THEN CALLED MY FINAL APCH AND HEARD A PLT CALL HIS BASE LEG VERY SHORTLY AFTER. I THEN SAW A PLANE COMING AT A 90 DEG ANGLE TOWARD ME ON MY L AND ABOVE ME. MY DOWNWIND MUST HAVE BEEN LONGER THAN HIS. I HAD NO COURSE BUT TO CONTINUE MY LNDG GLIDE PATH. I COULD NOT CLB OR TURN TO AVOID THE ACFT AS THERE WERE OTHER ACFT IN THE PATTERN. I LANDED WITHOUT PROBS. THE ACFT I AVOIDED CALLED A GAR WHICH I FELT WAS APPROPRIATE. I DID NOT FEEL THERE WAS REALLY ANY EXTREME POSSIBILITY OF A COLLISION. ON ARR IN THE FBO OFFICE AREA THE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER WAS ANGRY. SHE COULD ONLY HEAR THE STUDENT PLT CALL A GAR AND HAD NO VISUAL REF TO WHAT HAPPENED IN THE AIR. SHE VERBALLY ATTACKED ME BECAUSE THE STUDENT HAD TO GAR. I FELT I WAS IN THE PATTERN AT A LOWER ALT AND ON FINAL APCH. IT IS MY OPINION I WAS CUT OFF BY THE OTHER ACFT AS HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TURNED BASE UNTIL HE SAW ME ON FINAL. IT IS MY OPINION I DID NOT CUT ANYONE OFF BUT DID WHAT I CONSIDERED SAFE AND PRUDENT TO AVOID COLLISION WITH THE OTHER ACFT.
