TFC PATTERN CONFLICT.

Narrative

CONDUCTING VISUAL APCH INTO NON RADAR ARPT WITH AN OPERATING CTL TWR IN VMC. AS WE TURNED A R BASE WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. WE HEARD TWR WORKING 2 OTHER ACFT; A LIGHT SINGLE WHO WAS PROCEEDING TOWARD RWY 6 AND AN ARMY KING AIR PROCEEDING TO THE SAME RWY AS US. HE HAD US AND THE KING AIR IN SIGHT (APPARENTLY). HE POINTED US OUT TO THE KING AIR WHO CALLED US IN SIGHT AND SUBSEQUENTLY INSTRUCTED THE KING AIR TO FOLLOW US #2 TO THE RWY. WE ACQUIRED THE SINGLE WHO WAS OFF TO OUR R AND WOULD CROSS OUR PATH ON SHORT FINAL DUE TO THE CONVERGING RWY SETUP. WHEN WE ACQUIRED THE KING AIR WE SAW WE WERE ON CONVERGING PATHS; WITH US ON A STRAIGHT IN FINAL AND THE KING AIR ON A L BASE. AS WE WERE ABOUT TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION THE TWR MADE THE KING AIR REALIZE THAT HE WAS SCREWING UP UPON WHICH THE KING AIR ROLLED TO THE R WHICH TOOK HIM BEHIND US ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR EVASIVE ACTION ON OUR PART. APPARENTLY THE KING AIR EITHER MISJUDGED OUR DISTANCE OR WAS LOOKING AT THE SINGLE GOING TO RWY 6. THE TWR WAS ON THE BALL AND RECOGNIZED THE TRUE NATURE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I FEEL THAT WITH TCASII WE WOULD HAVE ACQUIRED THE KING AIR SOONER SO THAT THE KING AIR WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED WITHIN 1/4 MI OF US LIKE HE DID. IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT THE LACK OF RADAR PUT THE TWR CTLR IN A DIFFICULT SIT.
