Narrative
I WAS FILED IFR FROM UNV ARPT; PA; TO AOO; PA; DUE TO FOG AT THE DEP ARPT. WHILE HOLDING FOR RELEASE; THE FIELD APPARENTLY WENT TO VMC; ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T REALIZE IT. THERE WAS A LOT OF INST TFC; SO AS SOON AS I WAS RELEASED BY ZNY; I EXECUTED AN IMMEDIATE DEP IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE THE NEXT APCH. JUST AS I TURNED ONTO THE ACTIVE; I SAW LNDG LIGHTS APCHING THROUGH THE HAZE ABOUT A MI OR SO OUT. I MADE A QUICK DECISION TO CONTINUE THE TKOF AS FAST AS I COULD; RATHER THAN TURN AROUND AND RETURN TO THE TXWY (I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS BEHIND ME). APPARENTLY; I CAUSED THE GAR OF AN ARRIVING COMMUTER ACFT; BY THE REMARKS OF A VERY ANNOYED CAPT. I ASSUMED THAT WE WERE STILL IFR; AND SINCE I WAS RELEASED; THERE WAS NO ONE ON APCH. MY #2 RADIO WAS GIVING PROBS (I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE AVIONICS SHOP); SO I WAS TRYING TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH FROM CTR TO UNICOM (ADVISORY) FREQS WITH 1 RADIO. I MISSED THE RPT OF THE LNDG TFC; WHICH EVIDENTLY WAS VFR AT THAT POINT. UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES; I EXECUTED WHAT I CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST PRUDENT ACTION TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT; AND ALSO TO NOT DELAY THE LNDG AIRLINER. APPARENTLY; THE LATTER INTENTION DID NOT WORK.
