Narrative

ON CLB OUT FROM PHL EXPERIENCED VIBRATION ALONG WITH EXCESSIVE AILERON AND RUDDER TRIM SETTING REQUIREMENT TO MAINTAIN STRAIGHT AND LEVEL FLT. ENRTE AND AT TOP OF DSCNT; HAD FO MAKE A VISUAL CABIN INSPECTION OF TRAILING EDGE; LEADING EDGE; SPOILERS AND ENGS; FINDING NOTHING ABNORMAL. CHKED ACFT PER QRH (QUICK REF HANDBOOK) AND GSO MAINT AND DID A CHK OF YAW DAMPER; HYDRAULIC PUMP AND SYS; AUTOPLT; ETC; FINDING NOTHING TO CORRECT OUR ACFT VIBRATION OR ROLL PROB. REQUIRED 4 DEG R RUDDER TRIM; AND FROM 2 DEG L THROUGH 4 DEG R AILERON TRIM TO MAINTAIN WINGS LEVEL. VIBRATION CONTINUED UNTIL APPROX 200 KTS ON FINAL APCH GSO. ROLLED EMER EQUIP GSO; REQUESTED ATC RADAR VECTOR FOR STRAIGHT IN APCH WITH A 25 MI STRAIGHT IN APCH TO RWY 23 GSO. ELECTED 15 DEG FLAP LNDG AFTER EXCESSIVE YAW BUMP ON FLAP EXTENSION 2 DEGS. LNDG UNEVENTFUL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED HE WAS FLYING A BOEING B737-300. HE DID NOT CONSIDER TURNING OFF THE YAW DAMPER BECAUSE THE YAW DAMPER INDEX WAS CTRED. THERE WERE NO PAX OR FLT ATTENDANT COMPLAINTS. THERE WAS NO ICING. AFTER LNDG AND FILLING OUT THE PAPERWORK AND DEBRIEFING THE CHIEF PLT HE WAS GIVEN ANOTHER AIRPLANE TO COMPLETE HIS TRIP. HE NEVER WAS TOLD WHAT WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG WITH THE AIRPLANE.
