Narrative
RETURNING FROM MY LAST SOLO XCOUNTRY FLT AS A STUDENT PLT; I LANDED ON RWY 4L AT HNL. TWR DIRECTED ME TO TURN R ON TXWY D; CROSS RWY 4R; AND CONTACT GND WHEN CLR. AS I TURNED ONTO TXWY D I NOTICED A SILVER B747 TAXIING SBOUND ON TXWY C. (TXWY C RUNS PARALLEL TO RWY 4R.) WHEN CLR OF RWY 4R I CONTACTED GND; AND AS EXPECTED; WAS TOLD TO HOLD IN POS WHILE THE B747 TAXIED IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER PASSING IN FRONT OF ME; THE B747 STOPPED ON TXWY C ABOUT HALFWAY BTWN TXWYS D AND F; AND TOLD GND THEY NEEDED TO HOLD FOR CHKLISTS. AFTER A FEW MINS THE B747 SAID THAT THEY NEEDED TO RETURN TO THEIR RAMP FOR MAINT. GND TOLD THEM TO TURN R ON TXWY F AND SWITCH TO TWR FOR A TAXI BACK ON RWY 4R. THEN GND CLRED ME TO TAXI TO THE T-HANGARS (WHICH WERE S OF TXWY F). I TAXIED ONTO TXWY C AND BEGAN SLOWING DOWN BECAUSE THE B747 WAS STILL ON TXWY F WITH PART OF ITS TAIL STICKING INTO TXWY C. ABOUT HALFWAY BTWN TXWYS D AND F I WAS COMING TO A STOP WHEN GND TOLD ME TO TAXI BEHIND THE B747 AND USE CAUTION. I SHOULD HAVE TOLD GND THAT I WOULD HOLD UNTIL THE B747 TAXIED ONTO THE RWY; BUT DUE MOSTLY TO MY LACK OF EXPERIENCE; I ASSUMED THAT GND WAS TALKING TO TWR AND THAT THEY WERE HOLDING THE B747 IN POS UNTIL I PASSED BEHIND. JUST AS I GOT ALMOST EVEN WITH THE B747'S R WINGTIP; (I WAS ABOUT 50 FT AFT OF THE TAIL) I HEARD THE JET'S ENGS INCREASE PWR. MY CESSNA WAS IMMEDIATELY PUSHED TO THE L AND FORWARD; AND PITCHED NOSE DOWN. I BROUGHT THE ACFT TO A STOP; BUT NOT UNTIL AFTER THE L WINGTIP AND THE PROP TIPS CONTACTED THE GND. OUTCOME: PROP AND L WINGTIP FAIRING WERE REPLACED; AND ACFT RETURNED TO SVC THE NEXT DAY.
