AN ACR MLG CREW FEELS THAT THEY WERE MISHANDLED.

Narrative

CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 4R ORD; EXIT HI-SPD S4. WHILE EXITING AND ON S4; TWR TOLD US TO 'EXPEDITE TO THE END.' WE TOLD HIM WE WERE ALREADY ON S4. HE SAID 'OK; HOLD SHORT OF RWY 9R ALL DAY FOR ALL I CARE.' WE TOLD HIM WE WERE ALREADY ON S4 WHEN HE TOLD US TO EXPEDITE TO THE END OF RWY 4R. NO ANSWER. TWR THEN CLRED ATR42 AHEAD OF US TO CROSS RWY 9R; BUT SAID NOTHING TO US. AFTER ABOUT A MIN; TWR CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 9R; CONTACT GND POINT 9 ON TXWY D. WHILE WE WERE XING RWY 9R; I BECAME AWARE OF THE TWR SAYING 'ACR Y GAR; YOUR COMPANY ISN'T MOVING AT ALL DOWN THERE.' I LOOKED TO MY L AND SAW AN MD80 ON APCH TO RWY 9R BEGIN TO GAR. AT THE TIME THE TWR ISSUED THIS GAR WE WERE APPROX HALFWAY ACROSS RWY 9R; AND THE APCHING MD80 WAS ON ABOUT HALF MILE FINAL. AFTER THE GAR STARTED; TWR SAID 'YOUR COMPANY MUST BE MAKING SOME KIND OF POINT.' WE CROSSED THE RWY AT NORMAL SPD AND WITH NO DELAY; AND THE SEPARATION BTWN US AND THE LNDG FLT WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL. I BELIEVE THAT THE TWR CTLR DELIBERATELY ISSUED THIS GAR TO THE ARRIVING FLT TO SPITE US FOR TALKING BACK TO HIM AFTER THE LNDG. I REALIZE THIS IS A SERIOUS CHARGE; BUT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO ISSUE A GAR UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
