Narrative
DURING OUTBOUND TAXI FROM RAMP AREA; GND CTL CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 8R (NO OTHER RESTR GIVEN). WE PROCEEDED OUT TXWY C AND COMMENCED AN E TURN ONTO TXWY E. AT THIS TIME; GND INFORMED US THAT WE WERE ON THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF AN ACTIVE RWY. WE WERE ON TXWY E. WE ASKED GND CTL IF THEY WANTED US TO TAXI CLR OF TXWY E. GND CTLR SAID IT WOULD BE OKAY TO HOLD OUR POS ON TXWY E UNTIL CLRED ONTO RWY 8R. GND CTLR REMARKED THAT THIS INTXN WAS A CONTINUING PROB. THERE ARE NO HOLD SHORT MARKINGS OR ANY OTHER APPROPRIATE WARNING SIGNS AT TXWY E. THIS IS A CONFUSING INTXN AND SHOULD BE MORE CLRLY MARKED. IN EVERY APPEARANCE OF SIGNAGE; TXWY LIGHTING; ETC; TXWY E SEEMS A NORMAL TXWY. ALSO; IF THIS REPRESENTS A CONTINUING PROB; GND CTL MAY WISH TO ISSUE MORE SPECIFIC TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. GND TFC THAT MORNING WAS EXTREMELY LIGHT WITH MINIMAL RADIO CALLS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 320630: WE WERE CLRED TO 'TAXI TO RWY 8R.' WHILE TAXIING OUT TO RWY 8R WE FOLLOWED THE SIGN FOR TXWY F. WE NEVER SAW A HOLD SHORT SIGN OR GND MARKING PRIOR TO TAXIING ON TO TXWY E. ONLY AFTER GND ASKED US IF WE WERE ON THE RWY DID WE REALIZE THAT WE MAY HAVE BEEN ON THE RWY STOPWAY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR OF ACN #320605 REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: TWR SUPVR SAID THE TWR HAS HAD SOME ACFT TAXI ONTO THE STOPWAY WHICH IS TXWY E. ARPT MGMNT SUPVR STATED THE ARPT IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH FAA ARPT SIGNAGE AND MARKINGS. AT TXWYS F AND A THERE ARE HOLD LINES PAINTED ON TXWY AND A SIGN THAT SHOWS APCH RWY 8R. SUPVR SAID TO ELIMINATE CONFUSION; THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE TXWY F A ONE WAY TXWY WHICH WILL NOT BE USED FROM THE RAMP. ALSO TWR IS GOING TO GIVE MORE SPECIFIC TAXI INSTRUCTIONS.
