FLC OF AN MLG EXCEEDED THE FLC DUTY TIME LIMITATIONS BY NOT GETTING SUFFICIENT REST HRS FOR THE FLT TIME FLOWN. IN ADDITION; THE CREW WAS SCHEDULED TO GO OVER THE 10 HR FLT TIME LIMITS.

Narrative

I WAS SCHEDULED TO FLY A 2 DAY TRIP FOLLOWED BY A 1 DAY TRIP DEC/SUN/MON/TUE/95. SCHEDULED DUTY OFF TIME ON THE MON WAS XA50 LCL. ACTUAL WAS XA57. I HAD AN XL45 SHOW THE FOLLOWING MORNING. ACTUAL REST WAS 10 HRS AND 48 MINS. A PORTION OF THE TRIP WAS SCHEDULED WITH MORE THAN 9 HRS WITHIN A 24 HR PERIOD AND AS A RESULT REQUIRING 11 HRS NORMAL REST; REDUCED TO 9 HRS. I WAS UNAWARE; I WAS ON REDUCED REST. WE ARE RARELY SCHEDULED TO FLY OVER 9 HRS IN A 24 HR PERIOD REQUIRING THE LONGER REST PERIOD. I WAS REQUIRED TO BEGIN COMPENSATORY REST AT XA57 ON TUESDAY. I WAS SCHEDULED TO BE OFF DUTY (30 MINS AFTER BLOCK IN) AT XA05. WE WERE SCHEDULED TO DO A TPA TURN FOLLOWED BY A CLE TURN OUT OF MKE. WE HAVE A COMPUTERIZED CREW TRACKING SYS WHICH FLAGGED A WARNING TO ALERT SCHEDULING THAT A POTENTIAL DUTY TIME VIOLATION COULD OCCUR. THE SCHEDULER WAS AWARE OF THIS SIT. THE CLE FLT WAS DELAYED WHICH TRIGGERED A CRITICAL WARNING THAT I WOULD BE ILLEGAL TO DO THE CLE TURN. THIS WAS OVERLOOKED BY THE SCHEDULER AND I WAS NOT ADVISED. THIS WAS DISCOVERED THE FOLLOWING MORNING BY SCHEDULING. YOU REALLY NEED A COMPUTER TO TRACK FLT TIME CONCERNING HRS FLOWN IN A PREVIOUS 24 HR PERIOD. WE DEPEND ON THE COMPUTER TO MONITOR THIS. IN THIS SIT; THE COMPUTER FUNCTIONED PROPERLY; BUT THE ASSIGNED CREW SCHEDULER DID NOT TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION. WE FEEL THAT THE TRIP SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED THIS WAY WITH SUCH A SMALL MARGIN OF ERROR.
