FLC OF AN SMT TURBOPROP SHUT DOWN 1 ENG AND RETURNED TO LAND AFTER LOSING OIL PRESSURE ON CLBOUT.
Narrative
I WAS PREFLTING ACFT FOR TRIP BACK TO BNA (FROM JAX). I DID A THOROUGH PREFLT AND THE LAST THING LEFT TO DO WAS TO CHK THE OIL. I HAD A SUIT ON SO I WENT BACK INSIDE TO GET A LADDER. AT THIS TIME MY PAX SHOWED UP AN HR EARLY. I FORGOT TO CHK THE OIL LEVELS IN THE ENG. HOWEVER; DURING START UP I REALIZED MY OMISSION SO I MADE SURE I HAD OIL PRESSURE AND THAT MY PROPS UNFEATHERED PROPERLY. ALL WAS NORMAL. THERE WAS A 10 MIN DELAY ON GND AND WHEN I TOOK THE RWY ALL PARAMETERS WERE NORMAL. ALL WAS NORMAL UNTIL CLBING THROUGH 5000 FT WHEN L CHIP LIGHT CAME ON. IT STAYED ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN WENT OUT. ENG PARAMETERS WERE STILL NORMAL. 1 MIN LATER CHIP LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND TORQUE STARTED TO FLUCTUATE. I INITIATED SHUT DOWN SEQUENCE AND AT THAT TIME OIL PRESSURE WENT TO ZERO. THE PROP FEATHERED AND LNDG AT JAX WAS UNEVENTFUL. AT THIS TIME; I AM UNSURE IF ENG OIL LEVEL WAS A FACTOR. HOWEVER; THE LESSON LEARNED IS NOT TO LET PAX (OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER) TO DISTRACT ME FROM MY DUTIES.
