FLC OF AN MLG DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED TO LAND AFTER AN UNSAFE MAIN GEAR LIGHT DUE TO A DAMAGED LNDG GEAR CAUSED BY A BLOWN TIRE ON TKOF.
Narrative
DURING TKOF AT VR; 143 KTS; WE BEGAN ROTATION; FELT A VIBRATION FOLLOWED BY A BANG. ACFT BECAME AIRBORNE NORMALLY; FLT CTLS AND ENGS NORMAL. R MAIN GEAR GREEN DOWN LOCK LIGHT WAS OUT; RED 'GEAR UNSAFE' LIGHT ON. WE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO RETRACT GEAR; WENT TO DEP CTL; LEVELED OFF AT 4000 FT AND BEGAN A VECTOR FOR AN EXTENDED PATTERN BACK TO THE ARPT. WE PERFORMED ALL ABNORMAL PROCS INCLUDING VIEWING THE LNDG GEAR THROUGH VIEWING PORT IN CABIN FLOOR. GEAR INDICATED LOCKED DOWN; THE TIRES COULD NOT BE OBSERVED; HOWEVER; WIRE CONDUITS COULD BE SEEN BROKEN; GEAR DOORS APPEARED NORMAL. TWR CONFIRMED THE REMAINS OF #1 TIRE WERE FOUND ON THE RWY. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE BRIEFED AND PAX ALSO FOR EMER LNDG. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. #3 TIRE HAD BLOWN AND STRIPPED OFF RUBBER. #4 TIRE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. WIRING TO GEAR SWITCH WAS GONE AND A HOLE IN FLAP APPROX 12 INCHES ON TRAILING EDGE. NO APPARENT ENG FOD INGESTION WAS NOTED. CREW PERFORMANCE WAS EXCELLENT. COORD AND COMS BTWN COCKPIT; CABIN CREW; AND PAX WAS MAINTAINED. GOOD CRM.
