Narrative

FLT DEPARTED ELM FOR BGM; SCHEDULED OP. SHORTLY AFTER DEP WE WERE INFORMED BY COMPANY THAT 2 PAX FOR BGM HAD MISTAKENLY DEPLANED IN ELM; AND WE WERE REQUESTED TO RETURN FOR THEM. I (CAPT/PF) ELECTED TO RETURN; AND I BELIEVE ASKED PNF TO TELL STATION PERSONNEL TO CONTACT DISPATCHERS WITH THAT INFO. FLT LANDED ELM; BOARDED 2 PAX; UPDATED THE ACFT WT AND BAL FORM; DETERMINED THAT WE STILL MET THE CONDITIONS OF THE ORIGINAL RELEASE; AND DEPARTED AGAIN FOR BGM. ON ARR IN BGM I WAS CONTACTED BY DISPATCH AND INFORMED THAT MY DEP WITHOUT BEING RE- RELEASED MAY HAVE BEEN A VIOLATION OF FARS; WHICH HADN'T OCCURRED TO ME PREVIOUSLY. IN RETROSPECT; I SUSPECT THAT WE AS A CREW WERE PREOCCUPIED WITH 'RUNNING THE ACFT;' ACCOMPLISHING A RAPID TURNAROUND OF A FLT WHICH WAS ALREADY RUNNING LATE; AND THAT COMBINED WITH OUR FATIGUE AT THE END OF A TRIP; AND OUR EAGERNESS TO 'HELP OUT' BOTH THE 2 PAX AND THE STATION PERSONNEL; RESULTED IN OUR OVERSIGHT OF THE RE-DISPATCH REQUIREMENT. LOOKING BACK; I BELIEVE OUR OP OF THE ACFT WAS NEARLY FLAWLESS; AND STRICTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH SOP. BUT IN FIXATING ON THAT TASK; WE OVERLOOKED ANOTHER FACTOR WHICH REQUIRED OUR ATTN. THE OLD ADAGE 'WHEN YOU'RE LATE; SLOW DOWN' FITS HERE; FOR HAD WE NOT BEEN TRYING TO CATCH UP; WE LIKELY WOULD HAVE RþMEMBERED THAT REQUIREMENT.
