B757 FLC UNABLE TO ATTAIN MAX PWR ON TKOF. THEY BURN FUEL AND RETURN LAND.
Narrative
FLT WAS SCHEDULED DFW-EGE. UPON REVIEW OF THE LOGBOOK THE FO NOTED THAT THE ACFT HAD 2 ENTRIES IN RECENT DAYS THAT R ENG WAS UNABLE TO ATTAIN MAX PWR ON TKOF. SINCE WE WERE GOING TO EGE AND RETURN I DECIDED TO DO A MAX PWR TKOF AT DFW TO ENSURE THAT THE ENG WOULD PERFORM PROPERLY. ON TKOF MAX PWR WAS SET. WITH THE AUTOTHROTTLES BOTH ENGS STOPPED ABOVE STANDARD PWR; BUT SHORT OF MAX PWR. THE THROTTLES WERE MANUALLY ADVANCED. THE L ENG REACHED THE PROPER LEVEL BUT THE R DID NOT REACH THE MAX PWR LEVEL. BY THIS TIME THE ACFT WAS ACCELERATING RAPIDLY AND WAS APCHING V1. I DID NOT CONSIDER A HIGH SPD ABORT WAS NECESSARY SINCE BOTH ENGS WERE OPERATING ABOVE STANDARD PWR. A NORMAL TKOF WAS ACCOMPLISHED. AFTER CLEANUP DEP CTL WAS NOTIFIED THAT WE WOULD BE RETURNING TO DFW TO LAND AFTER BURNING FUEL TO BELOW MAX LNDG WT. DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED AND CONCURRED WITH THIS PLAN OF ACTION. AFTER APPROX 40 MINS OF FLYING A NORMAL LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITH NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIRED. THE ACFT WAS REPLACED AND THE TRIP CONTINUED TO EGE.
