PLT OF AN SMA SEL ENTERED CLASS B AIRSPACE WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative

I ASKED SPG GND CTL AT 121.8 FOR A VFR CLRNC AT 2500 FT DIRECT TO ZPH. GND CTL GAVE ME TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 24 AND TWR 127.4. SPG TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF TOWARDS THE NE L TURN AT 1500 FT. TWR GAVE ME TAMPA APCH AT 119.90 DIRECT. AFTER CONTACT WITH TAMPA APCH; ATC TOLD ME SOMETHING AND ASKED ME TO CONTACT TAMPA TWR. AFTER I CONTACTED TAMPA TWR THE CTLR ASKED ME IF I HAD A CLASS B CLRNC. BECAUSE I EXPECTED A CLRNC BY ATC I HAD NONE AT THE MOMENT. MY ANSWER WAS NEGATIVE SIR. THE CTLR ASKED ME TO STAND BY. AFTER PLUS OR MINUS 30 SECONDS THE CTLR ASKED ME IF I HAD A CLRNC AND TOLD ME THAT I WAS ALREADY IN CLASS B. THE CTLR TOLD ME TO STAND BY; THEN CAME THE CTLR BACK; ASKED MY FULL REGISTRATION AND THE BASE I WAS STATIONED. THEN HE GAVE ME A SQUAWK CODE AND DIRECTED ME TOWARDS ZPH. THE EVENT STARTED AT THE SE BORDER OF TAMPA AIRSPACE; APPROX 25 NM SE OF PIE VOR ON RADIAL 065 DEGS. MY HDG WAS 060 DEGS; ALT 1500 FT FOR 2500 FT; AIRSPD 100. AFTER THE EVENT I HAD A DEBRIEFING ABOUT WHAT I COULD DO TO OVERCOME A NEXT MISTAKE. I EXPECTED THAT MY REQUEST OF 2500 FT DIRECT ZPH TO SPG GND WOULD HANDED OVER BY TWR TO TAMPA ATC; OTHERWISE I REQUESTED A LOWER ALT.
