Narrative

ABOUT 20 MI E OF LGA; CALLED TO ASK FOR LGA TRANSITION TO LDJ (MY HOME BASE). THEY GAVE ME A DSCNT TO 2000 FT; THEN CAME BACK WITH 'UNABLE; REMAIN BELOW THE FLOOR OF CLASS B.' AT THIS TIME A BIZJET CROSSED IN FRONT OF ME; ABOVE ME BY APPROX 300 FT AND LESS THAN 2000 FT IN FRONT OF ME. TFC WAS NOT CALLED. OTHER INFO FROM NEW YORK WAS THAT LGA WAS ON 'BACKUP RADAR' AND NOT ACCEPTING ANY MORE CLASS B TFC. INCIDENT #2: I TURNED W AT CO-OP CITY TOWARDS THE HUDSON RIVER CORRIDOR. NEW YORK APCH TOLD ME TO 'SQUAWK 1200.' I WAS AT 1400 FT UNDER THE 1500 FT FLOOR. AN ATR42 BRUSHED PAST MY L WING; MY ALT; ABOUT 1500 FT AWAY; SAME DIRECTION OF FLT. INCIDENT 3: AT THE HOLLAND TUNNEL; 1000 FT; I WAS SBOUND ON THE W BANK OF THE HUDSON. A HELI WAS SBOUND; 1000 FT ON THE MANHATTAN SHORE. AN ATR42; AN EWR DEP; FLEW BTWN US NBOUND; ALSO AT 1000 FT. SUMMARY -- IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE THAT THE FAA GET ADEQUATE SEPARATION SYS THAT DO NOT BREAK. I HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS IN 20 MINS. NEW YORK APCH WAS USING THE SPACE UNDER CLASS B TO RTE PLANES ARRIVING AND DEPARTING PRIMARY CLASS B ARPTS. NOTE THAT THIS WAS TUESDAY; NOT A PRETTY VFR SATURDAY! DO WE NEED ANOTHER MIDAIR BEFORE THE FAA (OR ITS SUCCESSOR) GETS ITS ACT TOGETHER?!
