Narrative
I ENTERED R TFC AT LODI ARPT; CA; AND ANNOUNCED MY POS ON DOWNWIND FOR RWY 26. ON VERY SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 26 I HEARD ANOTHER ACFT ANNOUNCE THEY WERE DEPARTING RWY 30. (THE LAYOUT OF THE FIELD BLOCKS THE DEPARTING ENDS OF RWY 26 AND RWY 30 FROM SEEING EACH OTHER.) AS I FLARED FOR TOUCHDOWN I SAW A CESSNA JUST LIFTING OFF ON RWY 30. HE MUST HAVE SEEN ME AS HE BANKED INTO A CLBING L TURN TO AVOID A COLLISION. I SWERVED TO MY L ON THE RWY TO ENSURE WE WOULDN'T COLLIDE. RWY 30 IS USED BY A JUMP SCHOOL ON THE FIELD. THEY USE IT EVEN IF RWY 26 IS THE RECOGNIZED ACTIVE. BECAUSE THE ENDS OF THE RWY ARE NOT IN VIEW; RELIANCE ON THE RADIO IS IMPORTANT. LEARNINGS: 1) ANNOUNCING ON DOWNWIND IS NOT ENOUGH. I SHOULD HAVE CALLED ON BASE AND FINAL ALSO. I BELIEVE THE CESSNA WAS NOT ON FREQ WHEN I CALLED DOWNWIND. 2) THE JUMP SCHOOL SHOULD USE THE ACTIVE RWY; EVEN IF IT MEANS A FEW MINS OF TAXI. 3) AS THE LNDG ACFT I HAD RIGHT-OF-WAY. IF THE JUMP SCHOOL USES RWY 30 IN THIS SIT; THEY SHOULD ENSURE THERE IS NO ONE LNDG OR TAKING OFF ON RWY 26.
