Narrative
DISCUSSION WITH FO DISTR ME. I STARTED DSCNT LATE. I ACCIDENTALLY MISSED XING RESTR; BY 600 FT AND 2 MI. ATC ASKED IF WE WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE XING RESTR. I THOUGHT WE COULD AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE THE RESTR. IN FUTURE; I WILL LIMIT ALL CONVERSATION DURING DSCNTS INTO TERMINAL AREAS; EVEN ABOVE 10000 FT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 338224: WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RAMMS AND MAINTAIN 15000 FT 90 PLUS MI FROM THE INTXN. AT 55 DME; CTR CONTACTED US TO ASK IF WE COULD MAKE THE RESTR; WE WERE STILL AT FL230. CAPT BEGAN A 3000-4000 FPM DSCNT. I ASKED HIM IF HE WANTED THE PROPS FORWARD. AT 46 DME; WE WERE 1000 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED. I TOLD THE CAPT DIRECT FQF. I CTRED THE RADIAL AND STARTED RUNNING IN-RANGE CHKLISTS. I LOOKED AT MY NEEDLES AND THEY WERE 1/2 SCALE FLY R. THE CAPT HAD DVV STILL. ATC ASKED IF WE WERE DEVIATING AROUND SOME WX. I FIRST BLAME MYSELF FOR BEING A COMPLACENT FO. MY SECOND PROB WAS LACK OF REST. FOR THE CAPT'S FAULT; HE WAS ALSO 'OUT OF IT' THAT DAY. HE SHOWED UP WITH WHITE ATHLETIC SOCKS ON AND SPILLED HIS COFFEE ON THE EFIS PANEL DURING THE RUNUP. HE ALSO PERFORMED NO WALKAROUND BEFORE THE RUNUP. HIS ATTITUDE WAS FAR TOO CASUAL. WE WERE PREOCCUPIED WITH A DISCUSSION OF WHERE IN DEN HE COULD PURCHASE BLACK SOCKS. FROM NOW ON; THE L SEATER IS GOING TO FIND A MINI-CAPT IN THE R SEAT!
