Narrative
WENT TO WORK ON INBOUND WRITE-UP ON ACFT ON THE GATE. I OPENED NOSE GEAR DOOR; RELAMPED NOSE GEAR WHEELWELL DOWN LOCK LIGHT. SIGNED OFF LOG PAGE AND RETURNED LOGBOOK TO COCKPIT. LEFT ACFT AND WENT INTO THE SHOP TO GET A RIDE TO ANOTHER ACFT AT 'X' TERMINAL TO DO ANOTHER ACFT MOVE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR WAS CONTACTED AND RELATED THE FOLLOWING DETAILS. JOB ASSIGNED WAS A NOSE GEAR WHEELWELL LOCK LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT ON AN MD80 AIRPLANE. RPTR MANUALLY UNLOCKED AND OPENED THE R NOSE GEAR DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE BULB WAS REPLACED AND CHKED OK. THERE WAS PRESSURE TO BOARD THE LOGBOOK AS THE JETWAY WAS READY TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE AIRPLANE. THE LOGBOOK WAS SIGNED FOR JOB ACCOMPLISHMENT AND DELIVERED TO THE COCKPIT. RPTR WAS THEN ASSIGNED ANOTHER ACFT MOVE AND LEFT THE AREA. NO WRITE-UP WAS MADE TO CLOSE AND LOCK THE OPEN DOOR. THERE IS NO MAINT MANUAL PROC FOR A ROUTINE LAMP REPLACEMENT. RPTR STATED NO FAA CONTACT REGARDING THIS INCIDENT.
