ENG IDLE ADJUSTMENT MADE TO FUEL CTL WITH NO MAINT MANUAL REF ENTERED IN WORK ACCOMPLISHMENT DOCUMENTS OR LOGBOOK SIGN-OFF.
Narrative
JUL/XX/96; ZZZ MD82 ARRIVED WITH PLT RPT OF #1 ENG LOW IDLE AND SLOW TO SPOOL. I CHKED THE #1 FUEL CTL UNIT MOISTURE TRAP AND ADJUSTED IDLE ON FCU UP 4 CLICKS. I DID NOT PERFORM AN ENG RUN AT GATE BUT DID ENTER INTO LOGBOOK FOR THE CREW TO EVALUATE. CREW DID EVALUATE AND MAKE LOGBOOK ENTRY ENG OP NORMAL. I DID NOT PERFORM AN OP CHK AFTER ADJUSTMENT OF FCU. DID REQUEST CREW EVALUATION. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CONTACTED MECH WHO STATED HE ADJUSTED THE #1 ENG IDLE DUE TO A LOGBOOK RPT OF ENG IDLE LOW AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE. HE ADJUSTED THE FUEL CTL IDLE SCREW 4 CLICKS; BUT DID NOT RUN THE ENG. THE REF HE USED TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK WAS THE ENG TRIM PROC WHICH ALLOWS AN 8 CLICK ADJUSTMENT WITH NO SUBSEQUENT ENG RUN. AFTER ADJUSTMENT WAS ACCOMPLISHED AN ITEM WAS ENTERED IN THE LOGBOOK FOR THE OUTBOUND CREW TO COMMENT ON ENG PERFORMANCE. AFTER PUSHBACK AND ENG START NO COM WAS RECEIVED FROM THE CREW ON ENG IDLE PERFORMANCE. LATER LOG ENTRY RPTS ENG OP NORMAL. MECH STATED THE IDLE ADJUSTMENT WAS MADE TO THE FUEL CTL WITH NO MAINT MANUAL REF ENTERED IN THE WORK ACCOMPLISHMENT DOCUMENTS OR THE LOGBOOK ENTRY. MECH STATED HE HAD BEEN INTERVIEWED BY THE FAA.
