OBSERVER AND COMPANY PLTS NOTICE LACK OF NOTAM DISTRIBUTION TO THE LCL ARPTS AFFECTED BY AN AIRSHOW. ATTEMPTS TO HAVE FSS DISSEMINATE INFO TO THESE LCL ARPTS IS DENIED. HAZARD TO FLT IN ARPT'S AIRSPACE.

Narrative

NOTAMS POSTED FOR AIRSHOW ACTIVITY NEAR DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH ARE PUT OUT UNDER MMJ VORTAC. NO NOTAMS APPEAR UNDER AGC (NEAREST CTLED ARPT) OR PIT. WHEN THIS SIT CAME TO LIGHT; I CALLED ALTOONA FSS TO REQUEST NOTAMS BE DUPLICATED FOR AGC AND PIT. THIS SUGGESTION WAS DENIED WITH NO THOUGHT TO FLT SAFETY AND WITH NO CONCERN EXPRESSED. I THEN CALLED THE AGC FSDO. SUPVR; MR X; OFFERED THE SOLUTION OF HAVING THE HOLDER OF THE WAIVER REQUEST THE SAME FROM ALTOONA FSS. THIS IS THE ACTION WE ARE TAKING AND CAN ONLY HOPE ALTOONA WILL RECONSIDER. THIS CAVALIER ATTITUDE IS UNACCEPTABLE BY ALTOONA FSS SUPVR. MR X WAS AS HELPFUL AS THE SYS ALLOWS. I RECOMMEND THAT NOTAM ISSUANCE BE APCHED IN A MANNER THAT WOULD GET THE WORD OUT TO ANY PLT THAT MAY FLY IN AN AREA COVERED BY NOTAMS. IN TODAY'S AGE OF COMPUTERS; NOT ALL PLTS WILL CALL FSS ON THE PHONE -- YET FLT SAFETY IS NEGLECTED USING OUTDATED METHODOLOGY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THE PERSON WHO HELD THE CERTIFICATE FOR THE AIRSHOW GOT THE FAA TO HAVE THE NOTAM ISSUED THROUGH THE ALTOONA FSS VIA BOTH ARPTS. THE AIRSHOW WAS TAKING PLACE IN THE VERY AIRSPACE FROM WHICH RPTR'S COMPANY FLIES AND HAS THEIR HANGAR AND NO ONE KNEW ABOUT IT. IT WAS DISCOVERED BY ONE OF THE TRAINING PLTS AND THEN A LINE PLT WHEN TRYING TO PULL UP INFO IN A BRIEFING. THE ACTUAL AIRSHOW TOOK PLACE OVER THE RIVER ABOUT 6 MI N OF AGC BUT HAD TO INTRUDE ON THE AGC AIRSPACE. THAT IS WHY RPTR WAS SO UPSET THAT NO INFO WAS DISSEMINATED AT HIS ARPT. THE NOTAM INDICATED THE SHOW WAS OVER MMJ VOR; WHICH IS ACTUALLY W OF THE RIVER AREA. RPTR IS A 10000 HR PLT WHO IS TRAINING OFFICER FOR THE CORP ORGANIZATION. THE HOTLINE WAS RECOMMENDED TO HIM.
