SMT MAKES HARD LNDG AT JEFFERSON; WV. PROP TIPS ARE BENT AND OTHER DAMAGE IS DISCOVERED LATER DURING POST FLT INSPECTIONS.
Narrative
THE PLT; IN CONCENTRATING ON THE APCH ON THE DSCNT; AND IN ORDER TO KEEP CLR OF THE TREES AND THE SIDE-RISE; MISJUDGED THE HT OF THE PLANE OFF THE GND; AND PULLED OFF THE PWR TOO SOON. THIS CAUSED THE PLANE TO STALL OUT AND HIT THE GND WITH EXCESS FORCE. THE PLT KEPT THE PLANE ON THE RWY. THE L WING TIPPED EXCESSIVELY CAUSING THE PROP BLADES TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE GND. THE PLT BROUGHT THE PLANE TO A STOP APPROX 3/4 LENGTH DOWN THE RWY; TAXIED BACK TO THE APRON; AND CUT THE ENGS TO DISCHARGE THE PAX. AT THAT TIME; THE PLT EXAMINED THE EXTERIOR OF THE PLANE AND SAW THE DAMAGED PROP BLADES. NEITHER THE PLT NOR THE COPLT OBSERVED ANY OTHER DAMAGE AT THAT TIME. HOWEVER; ADDITIONAL DAMAGE HAS BEEN OBSERVED BY THE CHIEF MECH IN CHARLESTON; WV. THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S ADJUSTER IS HAVING THE PLANE EXAMINED BY ANOTHER FIRM AND IT WILL BE SEVERAL MORE DAYS BEFORE WE KNOW WHAT THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE IS. NEITHER THE PLT; COPLT; NOR ANY OF THE 3 PAX HAD ANY KIND OF INJURIES WHATSOEVER; NOR WAS ANYONE EMOTIONALLY SHAKEN. THE UNUSUAL APCH CREATED A PERCEPTUAL ERROR ON THE PART OF THE PLT. THE ARPT IN QUESTION IS MINGO COUNTY ARPT; JEFFERSON; WV.
