B737-300 TAXI TO GATE IN LIGHT RAIN. ON LEAD-IN LINE TO GATE WITH MARSHALLER GUIDING; ACFT STRUCK JETWAY IMPROPERLY PARKED.
Narrative
B737-300 GSO-PIT FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL ARR PIT. WX PIT WAS RAIN. ACFT WAS ON COMPANY APRON BEING DIRECTED/MARSHALED INTO THE GATE BY A COMPANY EMPLOYEE. ACFT WAS ALIGNED ON LEAD-IN LINE; CAPT WAS USING THE PARKING MIRROR FOR GUIDANCE AND FOLLOWED HAND SIGNALS FROM COMPANY RAMP PERSONNEL. ACFT CAME TO A STOP AGAINST THE JET BRIDGE. CAPT SHUT DOWN BOTH ENGS. DURING THIS SEQUENCE OF EVENTS; THERE WAS AT LEAST 4 COMPANY RAMP EMPLOYEES WHO WATCHED THE ACFT COME TO THE GATE. NOTE: SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH COMPANY STATED THAT PERSONNEL HAD BEEN WORKING ON THE JET BRIDGE DURING THE DAY; AND THAT IT WAS NOT PROPERLY POSITIONED AFTER THE REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED. PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN OF THE DAMAGE TO THE ACFT BY MAINT SUPVR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO ANY PAX OR OTHER EMPLOYEES AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT. SUGGESTIONS: REMIND ALL RAMP PERSONNEL OF THE IMPORTANCE IN ASSURING RAMP AREA IS CLR OF OBSTRUCTIONS BEFORE MARSHALING ACFT INTO THE BLOCKS. THERE WAS NO WAY FOR THE AIR CREW TO TELL THAT THE JET BRIDGE WAS IN THE WAY DUE TO THE RAIN AND THE ANGLE OF ARR AT THE GATE.
