HDG TRACK POS DEV AS DC8-62 FLC FAILS TO FOLLOW THE DEP PROC OUT OF FRANKFURT.
Narrative
THE CREW HAD A 16 HR REST PERIOD PRIOR TO THE FLT. I DID NOT SLEEP WELL THROUGHOUT THE EVENING. UPON ARR AT THE ACFT; SEVERAL MAINT PROBS REQUIRED MY ATTN; UP UNTIL TIME OF DEP. PUSHBACK OCCURRED ON TIME. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE FLT; THE SID BRIEFING; WAS VERY HURRIED. THE SID REQUIRED THE ACFT TO FLY RWY HDG (07R) FOR APPROX 3 DME TO FRA VOR AND THEN 2 DME FROM FRA VOR; AND THEN TURN L TO INTERCEPT THE DEP RTE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: THE FO CALLED '2 DME L TURN HDG 360 DEGS.' I HESITATED; BECAUSE SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT; SO I TURNED L TO HDG 360 DEGS. WHAT WASN'T RIGHT OF COURSE WAS THE VOR HAD NOT BEEN PASSED. THE FACT I WAS TIRED AND THE INCORRECT CALLOUT CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROB; BUT IF THE SID BRIEFING HAD BEEN MORE COMPLETE; THIS PROB COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: IN THE FUTURE I SHALL NOT CONCERN MYSELF SO MUCH WITH SCHEDULED DEP TIME; AS I WILL WITH THE RTE TO BE FLOWN. THE SID; MSA AND RETURN PROCS ARE MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS AND MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED PRIOR TO PUSHBACK. THE TWR INFORMED US THAT THE DEP WE FLEW DIFFERED SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE PUBLISHED PROC. THE TWR ALSO SAID THERE WAS NO PROB; BUT WE SHOULD MAKE NOTE OF THE MISTAKE FOR THE FUTURE. I THANK GOD THE PARALLEL RWY WAS NOT IN USE AT THE TIME.
