APPROX 1 YR AGO WE HAD AN AIRSPACE CHANGE THAT INCLUDED GIVING CLT A SHELF THAT EXTENDED INTO OUR AIRSPACE 10 MI. THIS SHELF INCLUDES ALTS OF 10000 FT; 11000 FT; AND 12000 FT. UNTIL THEN; THEY ONLY HAD 11000 FT AND 12000 FT. WHEN CLT IS LNDG N; WE ARE REQUIRED TO FEED THEM TURBOPROPS AT 10000 FT. CLT ADMITS THEY CAN'T SEE MORE THAN 4-5 MI BEYOND THE SHELF BOUNDARY OF 10000 FT. ALSO; ONE OF OUR MAJOR E-W OVERFLT RTES 'CLIPS' THIS SHELF AT 10000 FT. WITH SUCH A SHORT DISTANCE TO ACCOMPLISH A HDOF; IT REQUIRES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF CONCENTRATION ON THIS AREA WHILE OTHER THINGS ARE DETERIORATING ELSEWHERE. OUR PPS AT GSO HAS FORMALLY REQUESTED A MEETING WITH CLT TO SEE ABOUT US REGAINING CTL OF 10000 FT IN THE SHELF AREA. CLT HAS FAILED TO ANSWER THAT REQUEST. THE CLT CTLRS ADMIT THE 10000 FT DOES THEM LITTLE IF ANY GOOD. IF WE (GS0) HAD CTL OF THE 10000 FT IN THE SHELF; IT WOULD ALLOW MORE TIME TO PROVIDE THE SAFE SVCS OUR CUSTOMERS EXPECT AND DESERVE FROM US. GSO CTLRS HAVE ASKED THE AIR TFC MGR TO APCH CLT WITH THE ISSUE TO NO AVAIL. THERE HASN'T BEEN A DAY GO BY SINCE THIS WAS STARTED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN AT LEAST ONE AIRSPACE INCURSION. THE CTLRS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR TICKETS EITHER BECAUSE OF AN INCURSION OR BECAUSE SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS WHILE THEY ARE DISTR WITH THIS SHELF.
