Narrative
ON AUG/XA/96; ANOTHER PF ACFT WROTE UP 2 DISCREPANCIES; IE; 'ADF HARD TO READ' AND 'BATTERY MOUNT LOOSE.' I BEGAN FLYING THIS SAME ACFT AS OF AUG/XD/96. AT THAT TIME AFTER REVIEWING ALL THE INSPECTION TIMES AND CURRENCY OF THE ACFT I DID NOTE THE 2 OPEN DISCREPANCIES THAT WERE NOT WRITTEN OFF OR DEFERRED. AS PIC; I ADDRESSED BOTH SQUAWKS TO BE UNTRUE OR BOGUS; WRITTEN UP BY A NEW PLT FRESH WITH THE COMPANY. FROM BOTH THE FAA AND THE MANUFACTURER (CESSNA); I AM REQUIRED TO ADDRESS BOTH THESE ITEMS 1 TO 2 TIMES DAILY IN MY PREFLT INSPECTION. I THEN AT THOSE TIMES HAVE TO DETERMINE FROM THE MANUFACTURER PREFLT CHKLIST IF THEY MEET THE APPROPRIATE CRITERIA. FOR EXAMPLE: BATTERY -- ATTACHED AND SECURED AND PWR CABLE CONNECTED. I FOUND THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS NOT AIRWORTHY. ON SEP/XQ/96 VIA AN FAA RAMP CHK IT WAS NOTED THAT THESE DISCREPANCIES WERE NOT APPROPRIATELY SIGNED OFF; BY AN AUTH PERSON THIS AIRPLANE IS FLOWN UNDER REG PART 135 FOR SCHEDULED CARGO OPS. ALL ITEMS AS OF SEP/XQ/96. HAVE BEEN SIGNED OFF BY THE APPROPRIATE A&P.
