A SO RPT OF FLC WORK SCHEDULING PROBS WHEN MIXING DOMESTIC WITH INTL FLT TIMES.

Narrative

I DIDN'T FILL IN THE ABOVE; BECAUSE THE PROB IS WITH DUTY TIME; NOT SPECIFIC ACFT. I'M ON REVERSE THIS MONTH; AND UPON CHKING IN THE NIGHT OF OCT/XX/96; WAS GIVEN RESERVE DUTY FOR OCT/YY/96 LATER THAT NIGHT. I WAS CALLED TO TAKE A LAX-LAS-LAX-HNL SEGMENT ON OCT/YY/96. DURING THE LAX- HNL PORTION I HAD A CHANCE TO ADD UP MY LOGBOOK FOR THE PAST WK AND FOUND I HAD SERVED AS SO ON FLTS TOTALLING 35 HRS WITHIN THE PAST 7 DAYS; NOT USUALLY A CONCERN AS MY USUAL FLT SEGMENTS ARE INTL; SPECIFICALLY LAX-HNL-LAX. UPON CONTACTING SCHEDULING AFTER THE FLT; THEY AT FIRST DENIED THERE WAS AN OVER DUTY SIT; THEN ADMITTED THAT PERHAPS THERE WAS ONE; AS A PREVIOUSLY FLOWN SEGMENT OF MINE HAD NOT BEEN PUT INTO THEIR SCHEDULING COMPUTER. SO THE PROB AS I SEE IT: 1) THE SOMETIMES CONFUSING INTERFACE BTWN DOMESTIC AND FLAG DUTY RULES. 2) MY UNFOUNDED TRUST IN SCHEDULING NOT TO SEND ME ON A TRIP THAT WAS ILLEGAL DUE TO DUTY RULES. 3) MY COMPLACENCY IN DUTY TIME AWARENESS DUE TO USUALLY FLYING INTERNATIONALLY WITHOUT A 30 IN 7 LIMITATION; THEREFORE BEING UNCONCERNED ABOUT KEEPING MY LOGBOOK ADDED UP IN A TIMELY MANNER; AND APPLYING THAT TO DOMESTIC FLT RULES. I AM NOW FANATICALLY AWARE OF MY FLT TIME AND DUTY RULES; AND COMPLETELY SUSPICIOUS OF THE SCHEDULING DEPT.
