COMMUTER LTT FLC MAKES APCH TO WRONG ARPT. THEY NOTICE THE ERROR AND MAKE A GAR TO LAND AT PROPER ARPT.

Narrative

CREW HAD BEEN ON DUTY SINCE XA50 AM EST AND EXPERIENCED MAINT DELAYS PRIOR TO TKOF; AND THEN WX ENRTE. COMING INTO AEX AROUND XB00 PM CST WHERE THE WX WAS NIGHT VFR BUT TURBULENT; THE ACFT WAS CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH TO AEX RWY 32 BY ZHU AND HANDED OFF TO AEX TWR. ON FINAL AND ABOUT 800 FT AGL; A GAR WAS PERFORMED AND ATC NOTIFIED. THE ACFT HAD LINED UP ON FINAL AT THE INCORRECT ARPT (ABOUT 10 MI SE). THERE WAS NO TFC OR AIRSPACE CONFLICT; ATC GAVE VECTORS TO AEX; AND WE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER EVENT. THIS SIT AROSE DUE TO FATIGUE AND NOT USING ALL AVAILABLE NAVAIDS WITH AN OVERBEARING CAPT BEING A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. THE CAPT CALLED THE ARPT IN SIGHT BUT THE FO DID NOT HAVE THE ARPT IN SIGHT. THE CAPT INSTRUCTED THE FO TO TURN OUT TO THE L SO THAT A R DOWNWIND TO BASE COULD BE PERFORMED. DUE TO FATIGUE AND THE CAPT'S TONE OF VOICE; THE FO DID AS INSTRUCTED WITHOUT FURTHER QUESTIONS; AND SUBSEQUENTLY LINED UP ON FINAL WHEN THE RWY LIGHTS WERE IN SIGHT. AS PREVIOUSLY STATED; ON FINAL A GAR WAS PERFORMED. THIS SIT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY THE FO BEING MORE DEFINITE ABOUT NOT SEEING THE ARPT AND ONCE THE RWY LIGHTS WERE IN SIGHT TO THE FO; INDICATING TO THE CAPT THAT THERE WERE NO PAPI'S AND THE RWY APPEARED SHORTER THAN THE RWY OF INTENDED LNDG. ALSO; TO PREVENT THIS SIT THE CREW SHOULD HAVE SET UP FOR THE VOR 32 APCH AT AEX.
