A LGT ACFT IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF HAD A FORWARD CARGO DOOR WARNING WITH A STRONG SMELL OF UNIDENTED FUMES. EMER DECLARED AND RETURNED TO THE FIELD;
Narrative
ON FLT FROM MSP HEARD A THUMP AT ROTATION. APPROX 10-15 SECONDS LATER WE GOT THE MASTER CAUTION LIGHT AND ECAM DOOR PAGE SHOWING THE FORWARD CARGO DOOR UNSAFE. SHORTLY AFTER THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF UNIDENTED FUMES IN THE COCKPIT AND CABIN. THE CAPT LEVELED OFF AND TOLD ME TO CONTACT DISPATCH TO INFORM THEM WE WOULD RETURN TO MSP. HE ALSO TOLD ME TO PERFORM THE EMER CHKLIST. THE CAPT REQUESTED A RETURN TO MSP AND BRIEFED THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT OF THE SIT. ANOTHER FLT ATTENDANT CAME TO THE COCKPIT AND COMPLAINED OF STRONG FUMES AND STATED HER EYES AND SINUSES WERE BURNING. THE CAPT DECLARED AN EMER AND REQUESTED THE EMER EQUIP AS A PRECAUTION. I COULD NOT CONTACT DISPATCH SO I CONTACTED LCL OPS AND REQUESTED THEY NOTIFY DISPATCH. I COMPLETED THE EMER PROCS AND INFORMED THE CAPT OF MY ACTIONS. WE ACCOMPLISHED THE DSCNT AND APCH CHKLISTS AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER CLRING THE RWY; THE ECAM WENT BACK TO A NORMAL INDICATION. THE MECHS WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY MALFUNCTIONS OR ANY REASON FOR THE SMELL OF FUMES IN THE ACFT. THE FLT WAS REDISPATCHED; REFUELED AND OPERATED 2 HRS LATE TO MEM.
