WE WERE SCHEDULED AND FLEW A SUPPLEMENTAL FLT FOR THE MIL FROM GPT TO YUMA; AZ. I UNDERSTOOD THE RETURN FLT TO GPT TO BE EMPTY AND A FERRY FLT. TOTAL FLT TIME WAS 4 HRS 10 MINS TO YUMA AND 2 HRS 54 MINS BACK TO GPT. TOTAL OF 4 HRS 10 MINS SUPPLEMENTAL AND 2 HRS 54 MINS PART 91. AFTER A REST PERIOD OF 12 HRS 36 MINS; WE RETURNED TO THE ARPT TO FLY GPT TO PIE AND BACK. TOTAL FLT TIME WAS 2 HRS 45 MINS UNDER PART 121 SUPPLEMENTAL. I INTERPRETED THE PART 91 FLYING THE NIGHT BEFORE TO BE NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOTAL PART 121 SUPPLEMENTAL FLYING TIME WHICH DETERMINES REST REQUIREMENTS. THE COMPANY; HOWEVER; INCLUDED THE RETURN FERRY FLT THE NIGHT BEFORE IN THE TOTAL PART 121 FLYING WHICH MEANT A REST OF 7 HRS 4 MINS X 2 = 14 HRS 8 MINS WOULD BE REQUIRED AND THEY DETERMINED THAT WE WERE THEREFORE NOT LEGAL TO FLY GPT-PIE-GPT ON THE SATURDAY. SCHEDULING SHOULD HAVE PLANNED THIS TRIP WITH MORE EMPHASIS OF WHAT PART WE WERE OPERATING UNDER AND WHAT THE LEGAL REST WOULD BE AND I SHOULD HAVE ASKED THEM EARLIER.
