Narrative

I SENT MY STUDENT ON HIS FIRST SOLO XCOUNTRY ORIGINATING AND ENDING AT 1G3 WITH STOPS AT 7G2 AND YNG. WHEN DEPARTING YNG ENRTE TO 1G3 HE RECEIVED A PROGRESSIVE TAXI TO RWY 23 WHICH WENT AS FOLLOWS; 'TURN L THERE; L AT INTXN; HOLD SHORT; TAXI TO RWY 23 AND HOLD SHORT;' ACCORDING TO THE STUDENT. ACCORDING TO A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE TWR I WAS TOLD THE CLRNC WAS AS FOLLOWS; 'L THERE; L AT INTXN; TAXI TO RWY 23 VIA TXWYS J AND H; HOLD SHORT TXWY H TILL RUN-UP IS COMPLETE; TAXI TO RWY 23.' DUE TO THE LAYOUT; AND TERRAIN CHANGING IN ELEVATION; MY STUDENT CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINES AND STOPPED. THIS IS ACCORDING TO MY STUDENT. ACCORDING TO TWR; HE TAXIED ONTO THE RWY AND STARTED THE TKOF ROLL AND WAS TOLD TO ABORT DUE TO LNDG TFC ON AN INTERSECTING RWY. MY STUDENT DENIED STARTING THE TKOF ROLL OR EVEN GETTING TO CTRLINE PRIOR TO REALIZING WHAT HE DID. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE GND CTLR AS THE TWR CTLR HAD LEFT BY THE TIME I CALLED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 361039: I CONTACTED GND CTL WHOM I HAD SOME TROUBLE COMMUNICATING WITH BECAUSE OF HIS LACK OF PATIENCE WITH MY BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. FROM WHERE I WAS POSITIONED ON THE SURFACE; I COULD NOT SEE THE RWY SURFACE BECAUSE I WAS BELOW ITS LEVEL AND BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE I WAS POSITIONED TO THE TXWY I COULD NOT SEE THE RWY SIGNS. I BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT WAS PARTIALLY THE FAULT OF THE GND CTLR. HIS INSTRUCTIONS WERE UNCLR TO ME. I ALSO COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS WITH SOME RESEARCH WITH THE TXWYS OF YOUNGSTOWN AND MADE MYSELF FAMILIAR WITH THE DIFFERENT RTES.
