Narrative
CROSSED HOLD SHORT; REALIZED MISTAKE; DIDN'T ENTER RWY. TOOK OFF RWY 32; STARTED CLB TO 2000 FT; SMELLED WIRE BURNING AND LOSS OF PWR. REACHED 2000 FT MSL CALLED TWR TO TELL THEM OF PROB. TWR FIRST GAVE ME R PATTERN THEN CHANGE TO A L PATTERN FOR RWY 14; WIND WAS 090 DEGS/9 KTS. UNABLE TO MAKE RWY 14; CALLED TWR. THEY TOLD ME TO USE ANY RWY I WANTED. MADE A TEAR DROP AND LANDED ON RWY 32 BOUNCED TWICE DIDN'T HOLD NOSE UP AND COLLAPSED NOSEGEAR. I FEEL THE TWR DIDN'T GIVE ME VERY GOOD INSTRUCTION; KNOWING I WAS A STUDENT. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN MORE CTL AND STAYED IN MY R BANK AND LANDED RWY 23 OR RWY 32. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 362161: THE TWR TOLD THE STUDENT TO HAVE THE INSTRUCTOR CALL THE TWR UPON LNDG. NO INJURIES TO STUDENT BUT CONSIDERABLE ACFT DAMAGE. AS THE INSTRUCTOR (ON THE GND) I FEEL THE TWR SHOULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL THE STUDENT WAS ON THE GND BEFORE HAVING THEM GET NERVOUS ABOUT HAVING THE INSTRUCTOR CALL THE TWR. I ALSO FEEL THE CTLR SEEMED MORE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT TO DO THAN THE STUDENT; AND HAVING THE STUDENT COMPLETE 450 DEGS OF TURNS WHILE LOW AND SLOW COULD HAVE EASILY LED TO A STALL; SPIN INCIDENT.
