Narrative
ON 1 MI FINAL TO RWY 17 I SET THE SWITCH TO EXTEND THE GEAR AT 130 KTS (VLO=138). I HEARD A CLUNK AND FELT SOMETHING KICK THE FLOOR UNDER MY FEET. I DID A LOW APCH AND TWR SAID THE GEAR LOOKED DOWN AND THEN CHANGED THEIR MIND. ON DOWNWIND; I TRIED TO ELECTRICALLY RETRACT THE GEAR. NOW TWR SAYS THE NOSE GEAR IS STILL DOWN. SO I WENT TO A SAFE AREA AND USED MY CHKLIST TO ATTEMPT CRANKING DOWN THE GEAR. I REVIEWED MY NOSE GEAR DEFECTIVE LNDG CHKLIST. I RETURNED TO THE ARPT AND CIRCLED AT 5000 FT WHILE THE CTLR BROUGHT IN A FEW MORE ARRS. THEN WHEN THE ARPT WAS MINE; I CUT AND FEATHERED BOTH ENGS AND SECURED BOTH AND GLIDED TO RWY 13. WHEN THE MAINS TOUCHED I ASKED THE TWR ONE MORE TIME ABOUT THE GEAR AND DID A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN. THE NOSE GEAR TOUCHED; SHIMMIED; THEN COLLAPSED. THE PLANE SKIDDED TO A STOP AND 1 PROP BLADE WAS DAMAGED ALONG WITH THE NOSE CONE AREA. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO FAA FOLLOW-UP ON THIS INCIDENT. THE ACFT WAS A C310. RPTR IS NOT SURE OF WHAT WENT WRONG BUT HAS HEARD THAT A SPIDER GEAR HAS BEEN ORDERED FOR THE NOSE GEAR. THE NOSE CONE HE MENTIONS WAS THE FUSELAGE NOSE AND IT APPARENTLY SCRAPED THE RWY AS DID THE PITOT TUBE AND THE HEATER INLETS. REPAIR ON THE ACFT IS UNDERWAY AT THIS TIME.
