B747-200 ACFT HAS LOSS OF PWR AND HIGH EGT DURING DSCNT INTO ANC. ENG IS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED.

Narrative

AUTOPLT WAS ON AND PMS WAS CTLING THRUST LEVERS. AS DSCNT FROM FL370 WAS INITIATED THE #2 EGT BEGAN TO INCREASE AS THE PMS BROUGHT THE THRUST LEVERS TO IDLE. AS THE EGT HIT 850 DEGS I PUT #2 START LEVER TO CUTOFF AND ENG SHUT DOWN. TRIED 2 RAPID ENG RESTARTS. ENG LIT OFF BOTH TIMES BUT EGT ROSE RAPIDLY THROUGH 600 DEGS ON BOTH ATTEMPTS; SO I SHUT ENG DOWN AGAIN BOTH TIMES. WE LET ENG WINDMILL AS WE WENT THROUGH THE ENG SHUTDOWN PROC AND DSNDED THROUGH FL250 (WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO 10000 FT). AT FL250 WE COMPLETED A NORMAL ENG RESTART PROC AND OBTAINED A SUCCESSFUL RELIGHT WITH ALL ENG INSTS INDICATING NORMAL. AS WE WERE FAIRLY BUSY ON THE DSCNT FROM FL370-FL250; I DIDN'T NOTIFY CTR OF OUR ENG PROB. WE WERE BASICALLY ON A NORMAL DSCNT INTO ANCHORAGE AND THERE WERE NO PROBS OTHER THAN RELIGHTING THE ENG. AFTER WE GOT THE ENG STARTED EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO NOTIFY CTR AT THAT TIME. WE MADE A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG. DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED AND MADE RPTS TO FAA; ETC. THE EGT NEVER EXCEEDED ANY LIMITS; MAINT DID THEIR 3 HR INSPECTION AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENG.
