Narrative

I WAS THE CAPT ON ACR FLT XYZ ON APR/FRI/97 (L1011). WE WERE DEPARTING DFW FOR ATL. OUR PDC CALLED FOR A WORTH 6 DEP. THE FO AND I REVIEWED THE DEP AND DISCUSSED THE INITIAL RADIAL OF DFW VOR. NEITHER ONE OF US HAD BEEN INTO DFW SINCE ALL OF THE DEPS HAD BEEN CHANGED. I DO NOT REMEMBER READING THE INITIAL HDG OF 174 DEGS; BUT I HAD JUST ASSUMED THAT TO BE THE CASE. AS WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF; THE FO RESPONDED TO THE 'TKOF BRIEFING' CHALLENGE WITH 'HDG 120 DEGS; 10000 FT; NORMAL SPD.' I QUESTIONED THE 120 DEG HDG AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS SURE THAT HE HAD READ IT CORRECTLY. WE TOOK OFF AND TURNED TO A 120 DEG HDG. DEP CTL GAVE US A 170 DEG HDG AND ASKED HOW WE GOT THE TURN. WE TOLD HIM 'FROM THE SID' AND HE SAID THAT ACR NEEDED TO CHK IT OUT. WE RECHKED THE SID AND DISCOVERED THE FO HAD USED THE WILIE 1 SID (FOR TURBOPROPS). WE SHOULD HAVE DISCUSSED THE HDG AT THE GATE; AND I SHOULD HAVE CHKED IT BEFORE TKOF. I HAVE SUGGESTED TO ACR THAT AS WE HAVE NO TURBOPROPS; THE APPROPRIATE CHART BE REMOVED FROM OUR BOOKS.
