SMA ACFT ENTERING UNCTLED TFC PATTERN; PLT FAILED TO UNDERSTAND PATTERN ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS. DUE TO ACTIVITY AT THE ARPT INCLUDING PARACHUTE JUMPING AND OTHER ACFT; PLT RPTR BECAME ANXIOUS TO LAND QUICKLY. ON LNDG HE HELD TOO MUCH FORWARD STICK AFTER A BOUNCE AND HIT THE PROP.

Narrative

WITH PERRIS VALLEY IN SIGHT; I CANCELED FLT FOLLOWING AND CONTACTED L65 UNICOM FOR LNDG ADVISORIES. I HEARD 'PERRIS VALLEY R TFC RWY 15.' I SET UP FOR A 45 DEG ENTRY TO R DOWNWIND RWY 15. I ANNOUNCED 3 MI ON THE 45 DEGS FOR R TFC RWY 15 PERRIS VALLEY AND WAS TOLD 'REMAIN W OF ARPT; PARACHUTES IN THE AREA.' I ANNOUNCED DOWNWIND; R BASE AND R BASE TO FINAL RWY 15. ON BASE TO FINAL I HEARD TFC ENTERING L BASE RWY 33. THEN ON FINAL FOR RWY 15 THE TFC ANNOUNCED FINAL RWY 33. THERE WERE PARACHUTES ABOVE ME AND TO MY L; ULTRALIGHTS WERE TAKING OFF ON THE PARALLEL DIRT RWY TO THE R; I WAS LOOKING FOR OPPOSING TFC ON FINAL AND RECENTLY DOWN JUMPERS WERE WALKING ACROSS THE RWY. I WANTED TO GAR BUT FELT IT WAS UNSAFE. PEDESTRIANS WERE OFF THE RWY NOW AND I COULD NOT SEE THE OPPOSING TFC YET. I DECIDED TO LAND NOW. I RUSHED THE WHEEL LNDG A BIT AND BOUNCED SLIGHTLY. THE THOUGHT IN MY HEAD WAS 'PUT THIS AIRPLANE DOWN NOW!' WHEN MY WHEELS TOUCHED I USED FORWARD STICK (TOO MUCH OBVIOUSLY) AND HELD THE ACFT ON THE GND AND DISTINCTLY HEARD THE PROP STRIKE PAVEMENT. I ROLLED OUT; BRAKED HARD; AND GOT OFF THE ACTIVE ASAP. JUST THEN THE TWIN OTTER LANDED ON RWY 33. I LATER LEARNED THAT STANDARD ARPT ADVISORY FOR PERRIS VALLEY IS 'R TFC RWY 15 L TFC RWY 33; USE OWN DISCRETION.' HAD I HEARD THE ENTIRE RADIO CALL I WOULD HAVE USED (AND WOULD HAVE PREFERRED TO USE) RWY 33. ADDITIONALLY; I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME L TFC PATTERN AS THE OTTER. ALL THINGS CONSIDERED; I BELIEVE I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION TO LAND WHEN I DID. HAD I BEEN ABLE TO LAND JUST A LITTLE SMOOTHER AND NOT RUSHED THE LNDG SO QUICKLY; I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS MEMO.
