SMT CARGO FLC HAS ENG FIRE LIGHT ACTIVATE. AFTER EMER CHKLIST PROCS THE FIRE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED.
Narrative
APPROX 2 MINS AFTER TKOF; THE R ENG FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WE PERFORMED THE ENG FIRE INFLT EMER CHKLIST WHICH INCLUDED FIRING THE FIRE BOTTLE INTO THE ENG. AFTER THE CHKLIST WAS COMPLETED; THE FIRE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO VISUAL INDICATION OF A FIRE; BUT WE ASKED FOR CFR UPON LNDG AS A PRECAUTION. WE WERE THEN VECTORED FOR LNDG ON RWY 7R AT MKE. THE FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY FROM COMPLETION OF THE CHKLIST. AFTER LNDG; WE REQUESTED THE CFR TO CHK THE ENG FOR FIRE/SMOKE THAT WE MIGHT NOT HAVE SEEN. THEY RPTED NO FIRE OR SMOKE SO WE PROCEEDED TO PARKING. AS I ASSUMED; IT WAS AN INDICATION PROB. NO FIRE OR SMOKE DAMAGE WAS DISCOVERED ON POSTFLT. ALSO; AT ONE POINT DURING THE FLT WE WERE CLOSER TO WAUKESHA ARPT THAN MKE DUE TO VECTORS AROUND WX. HOWEVER; I ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO MKE DUE TO 2 REASONS. ONE; THE SURFACE WINDS WERE 330 DEGS AT 18 KTS GUSTING TO 25 WHICH WAS A DIRECT XWIND FOR WAUKESHA'S INST RWY 10. SECOND; MKE HAS FAR SUPERIOR CFR COMPARED TO VE5 AND I FELT THAT WAS VERY IMPORTANT CONSIDERING OUR POSSIBLE ENG FIRE.
