Narrative

CLRNC WAS TO CROSS THE TOMSN INTXN AT FL190 AND 280 KTS. ACFT POS WAS ON 082 DEG RADIAL OF CHE; APPROX 60 MI. WINDS AT ALT WERE OUT OF THE NW AT 95 KTS (ESTIMATED). AFTER GIVEN THE CLRNC (PLTS DISCRETION) THE ENGINEER STARTED TO RECORD DATA FOR AN ENRTE ENG RPT; SO I PERMITTED HIM TO COMPLETE HIS TASK OF DATA COLLECTION AND REMAINED AT FL290. AT APPROX FL235; ZDV CALLED ON THE RADIO AND ASKED IF WE COULD MAKE TOMSN INTXN AT FL190; AND THAT WE WERE 1 MIN FROM TOMSN. WE REPLIED NEGATIVE; AND ZDV CLRED US A L-HAND 360 DEG TURN TO LOSE THE DESIRED ALT. AFTER COMPLETING 270 DEGS OF THE 360 DEGS THE REQUIRED ALT/ENERGY STATE WAS ATTAINED. LACK OF ASSERTIVENESS ON MY PART WAS CAUSAL. I SHOULD HAVE TOLD THE ENGINEER; 'NO ENG DATA RPT; TODAY.' KEEPING ABREAST OF THE QUARTERING TAILWIND BY MONITORING GND SPD. A MORE THOROUGH REVIEW OF THE TOMSN ARR PAGE; VERIFYING THAT THE FIX IS FALCON 306 DEG RADIAL/55 DME NOT 46 DME THAT I MISREAD FROM THE RAMMS ARR (DME/FIX) DISTANCE. A FOOTNOTE ABOUT THE ARR PAGES INTO DENVER. 10 LBS OF INFO IN A 5 LB BAG MAKES FOR CLUTTERED READING. PERHAPS CONSIDERATION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO PUTTING EACH ARR ON ITS OWN PAGE.
