A LANCAIR PLT LANDS; THE WRONG DIRECTION; ON AN OCCUPIED RWY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COMMUNICATE WITH UNICOM ON THE WRONG FREQ. THE CESSNA; IN POS ON THE RWY; SAW HIM COMING AND TAXIED CLR.

Narrative

I FLEW IN TO N00 ARPT FROM THE N OVER LAKE ONTARIO. I HAD A TAILWIND COMING OVER THE LAKE AND I OBSERVED THE SMOKE FROM FACTORIES ON THE LAKE SHORE SHOWING THE WIND WAS FROM THE N. I SET THE UNICOM TO N00 ON COM #2 AND NEGLECTED TO SWITCH TO COM #2. THEREFORE; ON DOWNWIND; BASE AND FINAL; I WAS BROADCASTING ON COM #1 (WRONG FREQ). THIS BEING A NEW ARPT WITH 2 LARGE RWYS; I WAS CONCERNED WITH TWRS; OBSTRUCTIONS; AND DID NOT OBSERVE THE WINDSOCK. ON FINAL TO RWY 33; A CESSNA WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING OFF. THAT PLT NOTICED THE LANCAIR COMING IN ON FINAL WITH THE WIND AND THE CESSNA PULLED OFF TO THE FAR SIDE (E) OF THE RWY. THE LANCAIR LANDED APPROX 1000 FT IN FRONT OF THE CESSNA AND TAXIED PAST HIM. THE LANCAIR SAW THE CESSNA APPROX 10 FT FROM TOUCHDOWN; AND BY THAT TIME THE CESSNA WAS PULLING OFF THE RWY. CUMULATIVE FACTORS: 1) NOT SWITCHING RADIO FREQ. 2) ASSUMING THE WIND DIRECTION WOULD BE THE SAME AS 20 MI AWAY. 3) NOT CHKING THE WINDSOCK (FINDING IT ON THE FIELD). 4) NEW ARPT FOR PIC.
