Narrative
THE CAPT (PF) DID WALKAROUND. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF ALL 4 MAINS SHOWED ALL WERE NORMAL. 3 GAUGES READ 170-180 PSI (NORMAL). THE THIRD GAUGE WAS AT 6 O'CLOCK; DIRTY; AND HARD TO READ AND IGNORED. AFTER PUSHBACK; TUG DRIVER MENTIONED R OUTBOARD MAIN WAS LOW (THE ONE WHOSE GAUGE WAS NOT CHKED). CAPT HAD GUIDE MAN CHK PRESSURE BEFORE STARTING ENG. PRESSURE WAS 100 PSI. PLANE WAS PULLED BACK TO GATE AND CONTRACT MAINT FILLED IT TO 172 PSI. TIRE WAS FLAT ON LNDG AS RPTED BY ANOTHER ACFT APCHING FROM THE REAR. IT RPTED FIRST SMOKE THEN TIRE SEPARATING FROM RIM. WE PULLED ACFT TO DEICE PAD NEXT TO US. CALLED MAINT FOR ADVICE. MAINT CHANGED TIRES (BOTH R MAINS) ON THE DEICE PAD. WE THEN TAXIED TO GATE. WHAT CAPT DID WRONG WAS NOT TO NOTIFY MAINT IN SFO BEFORE LEAVING CID. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 370790: ON PUSHBACK AT CID THE GND CREW SAID OUR R OUTBOARD TIRE LOOKED LOW. WE HAD A MECH (CONTRACT MAINT AT CID) LOOK AT IT. HE FILLED IT TO NORMAL PRESSURE AND WE TOOK THE ACFT TO DEN. ON LNDG IN DEN THE TIRE POPPED OR WAS ALREADY FLAT.
