Narrative
DEPARTED KONA ARPT RWY 17 APPROX YY45 LCL TIME. NORMAL TAXI OUT; CHKLISTS FOR TKOF PERFORMED. TKOF UNEVENTFUL. FELT SLIGHT BUMP ON ROTATION AND GEAR CAME UP NORMALLY. AFTER DEP ACCOMPLISHED; ALL APPLICABLE CHKLISTS AND PROCS; AND KONA TWR MENTIONED A RPT OF RUBBER ON L SIDE OF RWY 17. WE HAD OUR MAINT PEOPLE AT KONA GO OUT TO EXAMINE THESE RUBBER PIECES OF TIRE AND THEY SUSPECTED IT WAS OURS. ENGS RAN NORMALLY AND WE HAD NO ADVERSE INDICATIONS SO WE ELECTED TO CONTINUE ON TO SFO; OUR DEST. CONTACTED OUR DISPATCH THROUGH COMMERCIAL RADIO PHONE PATCH TO ADVISE THEM TO GET EQUIP STANDING BY IN SFO AND TO PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE DIFFICULTY. FLT CONTINUED ON TO SFO. WE SPENT THE ENTIRE TIME REVIEWING PROCS FOR EVAC AND/OR UNSAFE GEAR INDICATIONS. PREPARED FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX FOR EVAC. ON ARR IN SFO AREA; WE ELECTED TO DROP GEAR EARLY TO INSURE TIME TO CHK IF UNSAFE INDICATIONS CAME UP. DROPPED GEAR AT WOODSIDE VOR; SAFE INDICATIONS. ACCOMPLISHED NORMAL APCH AND LNDG AT SFO AND HAD FIRE PERSONNEL CHK GEAR FOR SMOKE OR FIRE. THERE WAS NONE AND SO WE TAXIED TO THE GATE XA UNDER OUR OWN PWR. ON INSPECTION AT THE GATE WE FOUND THE L MAIN OUTBOARD FORWARD WHEEL HAD LOST ITS RUBBER OVERLAY AND THE GEAR DOOR WAS SLIGHTLY BENT. NO CREW OR PAX WERE HURT DURING THIS PROC AND I FEEL WE ALL USED GOOD AND EFFECTIVE COM TO HANDLE THIS SIT.
