Narrative
DURING APCH TO MSP FROM EAU WE WERE BEING VECTORED TO RWY 29R. FO WAS FLYING; AROUND 25 MI E OF MSP WE WERE GIVEN A 240 DEG HDG AT 7000 FT. AT 18 MI E OF MSP WE CALLED ARPT IN SIGHT. THE CTLR STATED FOLLOWING AN SF340 ON FINAL RWY 29R; TURN L 180 DEG HDG; DSND TO 6000 FT. AT 20 MI GIVEN A 240 DEG HDG DSND TO 4000 FT AT 170 KTS. AT NO TIME DID THE CTLR MENTION ANY TFC OTHER THAN THE SF340 ON FINAL. SHORTLY AFTER THE 240 DEG HDG WAS GIVEN A 290 DEG HDG WAS ASSIGNED AND CLRED FOR THE VISUAL TO RWY 29R. AT AROUND 5000 FT WE GOT A TA ON TCASII. I SWITCHED TO THE 5 MI SCALE AND LOOKED IN THE DIRECTION OF THE TFC; TO SEE A DC9 WHO WAS LINED UP FOR RWY 29L. AT THE SAME TIME THE CTLR CALLS TFC LESS THAN 1 MI. THE DC9 APPEARED TO PITCH UP AS WE INCREASED OUR DSCNT TO 2500 FPM. AS WE ROLLED OUT WE WERE ON A 315 DEG HDG AND 1 DOT L OF RWY 29R LOC. WE REALIGNED WITH RWY 29R AND LANDED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENT. I FEEL THE CTLR VECTORED US TOO CLOSE TO THE FINAL APCH COURSE TO PROVIDE A NORMAL TURN ONTO FINAL AND DEFINITELY DID NOT PROVIDE PROPER ACFT SEPARATION PRIOR TO GIVING THE VISUAL APCH CLRNC.
