Narrative
WIND WAS APPROX 320 DEGS AT 10-15 KTS. RWY IS RWY 3/21 AT ARPT X. I WAS FLYING ABOUT 060 DEGS TOWARD ARPT. WHEN I LEFT MY HELIPAD AT ARPT Y; THE WIND WAS OUT OF NW. I ENTERED A MODIFIED L BASE FOR RWY 3 AND ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS TO LAND RWY 3. THE FBO THEN ANNOUNCED OVER THE CTAF THAT AN EMS HELI WAS ENTERING TFC FOR RWY 3 AND ASKED ALL OTHER TFC TO PLEASE GIVE WAY. ARPT X WAS LNDG 21. I DID NOT HEAR ANYONE ANNOUNCE DOWNWIND; BASE OR FINAL FOR RWY 21. I KNEW THE WIND FAVORED LNDG RWY 3; AND NO ONE ON THE GND OR IN THE AIR SAID ANYTHING TO ME ABOUT LNDG RWY 21. I CALLED FINAL AND WAS STARTING TO MANEUVER TO LAND ON THE HELIPAD ON THE W SIDE OF RWY 3/21. AT ABOUT 1/2 MI OUT WHILE ON FINAL; I SAW INCOMING TFC; A BEECH A34. I MANEUVERED R; AS DID THE BEACH. WE WERE NOT THAT CLOSE BUT I THOUGHT MAYBE I SHOULD SEND A NASA RPT IN ANYWAY. I LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AT THE HELIPAD. THE BEECH WENT AROUND AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON RWY 21. AFTER I SHUT DOWN AND HE TAXIED IN AND SHUT DOWN; I WENT OVER AND APOLOGIZED FOR NOT CALLING FINAL AND EVERYTHING TURNED OUT FINE. BOTH THE OTHER PLT AND MYSELF REALIZED THAT THINGS LIKE THIS WILL HAPPEN FROM TIME-TO-TIME AT UNCTLED ARPTS. I BELIEVE THAT EVEN THOUGH TFC USES RWY 21 FOR MOST OF THE SUMMER THAT THE FBO SHOULD HAVE ANNOUNCED A WIND SHIFT AND RWY CHANGE. WHILE I WAS ON THE GND 2 OTHER ACFT HAD TO DO GARS BECAUSE OF TRYING TO LAND WITH A TAILWIND. ALSO BETTER COM BTWN ACFT MUST BE ENCOURAGED AT UNCTLED ARPTS.
