Narrative
DEPARTED RWY 22R AT JFK VIA KENNEDY 7 DEP; 220 DEG HDG; MAINTAIN 5000 FT ASSIGNED DEP FREQ 135.9. TWR SWITCHED US TO DEP AT 800 FT AGL. WE CHKED IN; ACKNOWLEDGED; AND READ BACK A CLRNC TO 13000 FT. WE HAD TUNED 135.9 PRIOR TO TKOF AND INCLUDED OUR CALL SIGN IN THE READBACK. 13000 FT WAS SET IN THE ALT WINDOW ON THE AFS PANEL AND VERIFIED BY BOTH PLTS. PASSING 7000 FT WE REQUESTED A TURN TO THE S TO AVOID A WX CLOUD APPROX 10 MI AHEAD; AGAIN INCLUDING THE CORRECT CALL SIGN. AT THIS POINT THE CTLR INQUIRED; 'ACR WHO?' WE THEN REALIZED THAT AT SOME TIME THE #1 COM FREQ SELECTOR HAD BEEN DISPLACED TO 134.9. IMMEDIATELY; AND NOW PASSING 7500 FT; WE SWITCHED THE SELECTOR BACK 135.9 AND ASKED FOR VERIFICATION OF THE CLRNC TO 13000 FT. OUR PROB WAS THAT WE WERE NOT SURE OF WHETHER THE FREQ DISPLACEMENT OCCURRED BEFORE OR SUBSEQUENT TO OUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE CLRNC TO 13000 FT. THE DEP CTLR SAID 'YES; OUR CALLSIGN; CLRED TO 13000 FT;' WHEN WE RETURNED TO 135.9 AND ISSUED A TURN EBOUND. HE ASKED IF WE WERE EXPERIENCING RADIO PROBS AND WE EXPLAINED WHAT TRANSPIRED. HE SAID THERE HAD BEEN NO PROB AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WE DEEMED FURTHER DISCUSSION ON THE FREQ INADVISABLE. WE WERE VMC AT ALL TIMES.
