FLC OF A BE02 ACFT SHUT DOWN 1 ENG. DUE TO LOSING PWR DURING CLBOUT; DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURN LAND.

Narrative

WE DEPARTED RWY 8 FROM DEN BEHIND 2 B757 ACFT. AMONG OTHER NORMAL CONSIDERATIONS; I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT A WAKE TURB ENCOUNTER FROM THESE 2 PRECEDING ACFT. AT APPROX 2000 FT AGL WE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENG PWR FROM THE R ENG. WE PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN THE ENG AND SECURE IT. WE DECLARED AN EMER; TOLD THE TWR TO ROLL THE EQUIP; AND TOLD THE TWR HOW MANY PAX WERE ON BOARD. DEN TWR CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 26. AT ABOUT 500 FT AGL DEN TWR GAVE US THE WINDS '110 DEGS AT 18 KTS.' WE TOLD THE TWR WE COULD NOT ACCEPT THAT MUCH TAILWIND. TWR ASKED IF WE COULD LAND RWY 17R WHICH WE SAID WE COULD BUT WOULD NEED TO DO A R 270 DEG TURN IN ORDER TO SET UP PROPERLY. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TURN TIGHTLY TO AVOID A CONFLICT WITH ACFT FOR 16 AND TO WATCH FOR ACFT ON APCH FOR RWY 17R. WE WERE UNABLE TO TURN TIGHT ENOUGH FOR RWY 17R. WHEN WE ROLLED OUT OF THE TURN WE WERE LINED UP ON RWY 17L. SO WE PROCEEDED TO LAND ON RWY 17L. AFTER STOPPING THE ACFT ON THE TXWY WE EVACED THE PAX AND WAITED FOR HELP. NOBODY WAS HURT AND THE ACFT WAS NOT DAMAGED.
