Narrative
AFTER LNDG ON RWY 31R AT TXWY V; TWR TOLD US TO CONTACT GND; WHO THEN INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI TO ACR RAMP STRAIGHT AHEAD. I CALLED ACR RAMP CTL AS WE BEGAN TO TAXI TOWARDS THEIR RAMP. THEY ADVISED US NO ROOM ON THEIR RAMP AND TO PARK ELSEWHERE. AT THIS MOMENT WE WERE TAXIING UP ON THE HOLD SHORT LINES (CLRING THE RWY ENVIRONMENT) AND I CALLED GND BACK AND ADVISED THEM WE NEEDED TO REPOS TO THE GA TERMINAL. GND TOLD US TO 'DO A 180 DEG TURN' AND CALL THE TWR. THE COPLT IMMEDIATELY DID A 180 DEG TURN AND TAXIED FORWARD SLIGHTLY TO STRAIGHTEN THE NOSEWHEEL. OUR 180 DEG TURN WAS DONE ON THE HOLD LINES SO WE STOPPED ON THE RWY SIDE OF THEM. THEN WE CONTACTED THE TWR FOR REPOS AND THE CTLR TOLD US WE DIDN'T HOLD SHORT OF THE RWY. THE CREW PERCEPTION WAS THEY WERE GOING TO REPOS US QUICKLY; AS WE DID NOT GET A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION WHEN THEY SAID TO 'DO A 180 DEG TURN' AND WE WERE STILL ON THE RWY SIDE OF THE LINES BEING TOLD TO GO BACK TO TWR. FROM NOW ON; WE WILL ALWAYS CLR THE RWY ENVIRONMENT FIRST; THEN COMPLY WITH ATC INSTRUCTIONS.
