RPTR ALLEGES ARPT MGMNT WILL NOT REMOVE OR CUT THEM DOWN. THE ARPT MGR RESTR THE USE OF THE TXWY FOR ACFT WITH WINGSPANS OF 70 FT OR MORE FROM USING THE TXWY.
Narrative
TXWY B IS A NON VISIBILITY AREA FROM THE TWR. ON JUL/XX/97; A CL60 WAS TAXIING ON THIS TXWY AND ITS WINGTIPS SCRAPPED SOME TREES AND SHRUBS. THE ARPT MGR THEN PUT OUT A NOTAM STATING THAT ACFT WITH A WINGSPAN OF 70 FT OR MORE CANNOT TAXI DOWN THIS TXWY. AT THE PRESENT TIME ARPT MGMNT HAS NO INTENTION TO CUT DOWN OR REMOVE THE TREES AND SHRUBS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE DELAYS TO ACFT BECAUSE THE CTLRS WOULD HAVE TO BACK TAXI ALMOST THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE RWY TO GET A DEP OFF WITH A WINGSPAN OF 70 FT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE ACFT INVOLVED WAS A G3 AND RPTR IS UNAWARE OF ANY DAMAGE TO THE ACFT; ALLEGES THE ARPT MGR SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO CUT DOWN THE TREES/SHRUBS. A UCR WAS FILED. THE TWR HAS BECOME A CONTRACT FACILITY RECENTLY AND RPTR IS UNAWARE OF ANY FURTHER ACTION BY THE ARPT MGMNT EXCEPT THAT THE RPTR LEARNED FROM THE ATM PRIOR TO LEAVING THE FACILITY THAT THE ARPT WILL PROBABLY GET THE FUNDS TO CUT DOWN THE TREES/SHRUBS IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER.
