Narrative
MY FIRST TIME TO JFK. I AM EMPLOYED BY COMPANY THAT OWNS AIRPLANE. WE USE 2 CREW MEMBERS EVEN THOUGH ONLY 1 IS REQUIRED. DEADHEAD LEG SO I ALLOWED OTHER PLT TO FLY. HE IS QUALIFIED AS PIC IN ACFT. AFTER A BUSY VOR RWY 13L/R APCH INTO JFK; WE WERE GIVEN RWY 13R INSTEAD OF THE EXPECTED RWY 13L. THIS CHANGE OCCURRED WITHIN 4 MI OF THE ARPT. THE APCH AND LNDG WAS IN GOOD VFR CONDITIONS. ON LNDG; WE REALIZED WE LANDED SHORT OF THE TOUCHDOWN AREA; ALTHOUGH ON A LIGHTED PORTION OF THE RWY. NO NOTAM OR ATIS ADVISORY ABOUT THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD. ON VERY SHORT FINAL; AFTER LNDG LIGHTS BECAME EFFECTIVE; WE SAW ARROWS ON THE SURFACE. BY THEN; WE HAD LANDED. I ALSO REALIZED LATER THAT I REMEMBER THAT THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD HAD ALTERNATING RED AND AMBER RWY LIGHTS; ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE AT THE TIME. THERE WAS NO VASI FOR THE RWY AND VERY DIM GREEN LIGHTS TO MARK THE BEGINNING OF THE LNDG ZONE. ALSO; THERE IS A LINE ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM THAT I NOTICED AFTER THE EVENT. IF I HAD SEEN THAT EARLIER; I STILL MAY NOT HAVE UNDERSTOOD ITS SIGNIFICANCE. NEW; BUSY ARPT AT NIGHT WITH AN UNUSUAL APCH AND HIGH ADRENALINE CAUSED A LETDOWN WITH THE RWY ASSURED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 377100: ATTEMPTING TO TAXI TO GA. I THOUGHT I WAS CLOSER THAN I WAS AFTER EXITING RWY. I TURNED INTO ACR RAMP THINKING THE GA AREA WAS OFF OF THAT. INSTEAD; THE GA WAS W SEVERAL THOUSAND FT. I THOUGHT I SAW BUSINESS JETS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A BLAST FENCE. I WAS A LITTLE TENSE AND UPSET AFTER THE LNDG AND SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A PROGRESSIVE EVEN FOR A SHORT TAXI.
