Narrative

INSIDE BONHAM ON BONHAM ARR; WE WERE FOLLOWING UNKNOWN TFC INSIDE BONHAM INTXN DSNDING THROUGH ABOUT 15000 FT. TCASII SHOWED US EXACTLY 10 NM IN TRAIL. I WAS FLYING ON AUTOPLT 1. SUDDENLY; WE ENCOUNTERED WHAT SEEMED LIKE PRE- STALL BUFFET WITH AIRSPD APPROX 275 KIAS. NEXT; THE ACFT ROLLED RAPIDLY L TO ABOUT 45 DEGS. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT; ROLLED WINGS LEVEL; AND LEVELED OFF. WE ASKED THE TYPE WE WERE FOLLOWING; AND WERE TOLD WE WERE IN TRAIL OF A COMPANY MD11. SEVERAL MINS LATER; THE EVENT HAPPENED AGAIN. WE ASKED FOR AN ALT CHANGE AND WERE TOLD THE MD11 WAS AT 5000 FT. WE WERE GIVEN A TURN AWAY FROM THE MD11'S FLT PATH. SUBSEQUENTLY; WE REQUESTED RWY 17R; PARTLY TO STAY AWAY FROM THE MD11; AND ALSO BECAUSE WE WERE LATE DUE TO WX. AFTER BEING ASSIGNED THE VISUAL TO RWY 17R; I LINED UP ON RWY 17L FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME; THEN COMPLETED AN UNEVENTFUL APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 17R. I'M SURE THE CONCERN OVER THE MD11; THE ADDED WORKLOAD OF SWITCHING RWYS; AND TRYING TO GET THE FOLKS TO THEIR DESTS ALL CONTRIBUTED TO MY ERROR. IN CLOSING I WAS SURPRISED BY THE EFFECT THE WAKE TURB HAD ON MY F100. BOTH TIMES; I THOUGHT WE WERE EXPERIENCING PRE-STALL BUFFET. THERE WERE NO STICK SHAKER OR OTHER WARNINGS PRESENT; HOWEVER.
